Histopathology Laboratory: 

The function of histopathology section is the diagnosis and study of diseases of the tissues, and involves examining tissues and/or cells under a microscope.
Histopathologists are responsible for making tissue diagnoses and helping clinicians manage a patient’s care.

Histopathology department services are available for all patient at Dar Al Shifa hospital as well as patient from outside the hospital.
We provide histopathology and cytology diagnoses of all kind of tissues and fluids taken from the human body with high quality degree.

Services provided:

- Biopsy examination: Analyzing small tissue samples for the diagnosis of diseases with use of special stains as required.
- Histopathology surgical specimens: Examining tissues such as colon, thyroid and gynecological specimens removed for definitive diagnosis and further management if required,
- Cytopathology: Studying and analyzing individual cells for abnormalities, inflammatory or neoplastic such as urine, abdominal and pleural fluids.
- Cytology for fine needle aspiration (FNAC): A procedure used to obtain cells from a suspicious mass or lump in the body for diagnosis from various organs such as thyroid, lymph nodes and breast.
- Gynecologic cytology: involves examining cells collected from the female genital tract, mostly cervical.
- Histopathology second opinion.

New services soon:

1- Frozen section for tissue diagnosis = rapid microscopic examination of tissues during surgery to guide the surgical procedure and treatment.
2- IHC (Immunohistochemistry): using antibodies to identify specific proteins in tissues, aiding in appropriate and definitive diagnoses.
