Admission Information

Thank you for choosing Dar Al Shifa Hospital for your treatment and care. If you are coming to Dar Al Shifa Hospital to be admitted as an inpatient, please check in at the Admission Office in Ground floor (Atrium)

Be sure to bring with you: 

  • Civil ID – Or Passport and Visa Page if you are on a visit to Kuwait.
  • Marriage certificate (and proof of Citizenship Passport for Kuwaiti) in case of pregnancy/ delivery or maternal cases.
  • Insurance card, if available.
  • Referral letter or admission request from your doctor/referring physician in case you are referred by an external doctor.
  • Laboratory and diagnostic reports, related to your condition/current diagnosis (x-ray, MRI, etc.) 
  • Medications that you are currently taking (in their original package) and current prescription, if any 
  • Sleeping clothes and toiletries 
  • More than one set of clothes for newborns (for delivering mothers) 

The staff nurse from your doctor’s clinic will contact the Admission Office to arrange admission requirements. The Admission Officer will then, confirm your details, advise you on any special requirements, and provide an estimate of cost, insurance coverage and accommodation details.

Surgical Patients 

On the night before surgery: 

Take a shower and wear clean loose clothes. 

DO NOT shave the area; Clip the hair if you have been instructed. 

DO NOT: Use any creams, lotions, powder or deodorant in the area where your surgery will take place. 

DO NOT:  Eat, drink or smoke after midnight. 

Remove all jewelry, nail polish, hair clip and makeup before coming to the hospital. 

Do not bring any unnecessary valuables with you to the Hospital. 

Take your medications as prescribed by your doctor. 


On the day of surgery: 

  • If not admitted the night before, arrive at the hospital at least 3 hours prior to the time of surgery. 
  • Bring all investigation reports, X-ray, CD (if any) and medication/s available with you. 
  • Go directly to the admission office /main reception at Dar Al Shifa New Atrium
  • Make arrangements for someone to stay with you in the room and take you home after discharge. 
  • Inform the nurse about allergies, removable dentures, and contact lenses, hearing aids …. etc. 


Fast Track Admission Service

Our hospital offers a convenient Fast Track Admission Service for patients scheduled for surgery. This service allows patients to bypass the traditional admission process and proceed directly to their pre-booked room.

How it Works:

  • One day prior to the scheduled surgery date, patients visit the Anesthesia Clinic.
  • At the Anesthesia Clinic, all necessary arrangements, including signatures and payments, are completed.
  • Patients are then directed straight to their pre-booked room, eliminating the need to visit the admission office.
